Distinct North America in New York City is seeking an attorney for its growing Insurance Coverage practice. The role offers hybrid work, ongoing client contact, and exposure to sophisticated coverage matters across CGL, D&O, E&O, EPL, and more.
You will manage matters through the full lifecycle, including litigation in state and federal courts, with a focus on quality, analysis and practical guidance. NY/NJ bar admission is required; PA admission is a plus.
If you've built your experience in insurance coverage but you're starting to think about better-quality work, more variety and what the next stage of your career could look like, this opportunity is worth exploring.
You don't have to be actively looking. Sometimes it's simply worth knowing whether there's something better out there.
I'm working with a highly regarded mid-sized New York City firm that's continuing to grow its Insurance Coverage practice.
This is an opportunity to work on sophisticated and varied coverage matters across CGL, D&O, E&O, EPL, professional liability, commercial property & casualty and more.
The role is hybrid, and you'll have the chance to take real ownership of your matters while working alongside an experienced team on interesting, complex coverage issues.
You'll be involved across the full lifecycle of coverage matters, combining detailed policy analysis with hands-on litigation and direct client interaction.
Your work will include:
It's a good mix for someone who enjoys the technical side of coverage work but still wants to be actively involved in litigation and client relationships.
Ideally, you'll have 2–8 years of insurance coverage and policy analysis experience, alongside a strong understanding of coverage disputes and policy interpretation.
You'll need admission to the New York and/or New Jersey Bar, while Pennsylvania admission would be an advantage.
They're particularly interested in attorneys with strong research and writing skills and experience handling litigation from inception through trial.
Because your next move should give you something more than a salary increase.
More sophisticated matters. Broader coverage exposure. Hybrid flexibility. Strong client contact. And the opportunity to keep developing within an established practice.
Compensation is $150,000–$230,000 depending on experience.
If you've started wondering whether there's a firm out there that might offer you a better long-term fit, I'd be happy to tell you more.
And if this particular role isn't quite right, I work with firms across the East Coast and would be happy to have a confidential conversation about what you're looking for next.
