Job summary

Harrison Group, Inc. in Little Rock, AR, seeks an Insurance Controller to lead statutory and GAAP accounting for a growing life and annuity carrier. This hands-on role interfaces with executives, actuaries, and regulators, shaping the finance function as the business expands.

You will own monthly closes, NAIC filings, internal controls, and system upgrades, building a small team and driving reporting quality with real analysis.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of financial reporting experience in an insurance company.
• At least 3 years owning statutory reporting, not just supporting it.
• Degree in Accounting or Finance; insurance designations nice-to-have.
• Experience with GAAP and statutory reporting and controls.
• Strong communication with executives, auditors, regulators.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting cycles.
• Manage NAIC statutory filings across multiple entities.
• Develop internal controls and procedures for long-term operations.
• Collaborate with auditors, reinsurers, actuaries, and regulators.
• Lead and build a small accounting team; report to executives.
• Oversee journal entries, reconciliations, and chart of accounts.
• Assist with system selection and rollout for accounting/reporting.
