Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Insurance Authorization Specialist to support clinic operations. You will verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and coordinate with billing to ensure accurate claims processing and timely patient care.

You will educate patients on benefits, maintain EHR documentation, and collaborate with therapists to ensure smooth coordination of care while upholding HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications preferred.
• Experience in insurance verification and prior authorization is preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 terminology.
• Experience with EHR and billing software.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
• HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
• Typing speed of at least 45 WPM; proficient in MS Office.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide patient-centered service.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage for new patients: eligibility, benefits, coverage limitations, copayments, deductibles, and payer-specific requirements.
• Obtain prior authorizations and re-authorizations for physical therapy services; collaborate with providers to gather documentation and submit requests within required timeframes.
• Monitor and track authorization status to ensure timely approvals and uninterrupted patient care.
• Coordinate with the billing department to support accurate claims processing, including submitting treatment plans, authorization details, and insurance documentation.
• Educate patients and their families on their insurance benefits, financial responsibilities, and coverage details.
• Maintain detailed records of verifications, authorizations, and communications in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Collaborate with therapists, providers, and clinic staff to ensure seamless coordination of care and accurate documentation.
