Job summary

CAO is seeking a Scheduler and Authorization Specialist to manage patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification for a busy orthopedic practice. You will assist patients with inquiries, collect co-pays, and drive timely pre-authorizations with insurers.

Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and multitasking abilities are essential. Proficiency with online portals and EMR systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of medical office experience preferred.
• Proficient knowledge in medical terminology.
• Strong typing and spelling skills.
• Proficient with online insurance websites (DASH) and databases.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience collaborating across functions.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to excellence in health care and patient service.
• Schedule, change, and update patient appointments.
• Interview patients for demographics and eligibility; collect co-pays and deductibles.
• Contact insurance carriers to verify eligibility and benefits.
• Obtain pre-authorization from insurers within time limits.
• Process insurance authorizations and update patient records.
• Document communications with providers and staff clearly.
