Job summary

CAO's Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics LLC (CAO) is seeking a Scheduler and Authorization Specialist to join our team. In this role you will handle patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and pre-authorizations, delivering professional, efficient service.

The job requires strong communication, multi-tasking, and attention to detail, with 1–2 years medical office experience preferred. Proficiency in DASH and Microsoft Office is expected. Work is on-site in the Baltimore area.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of medical office experience preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge in medical terminology.
  • Above average spelling and typing skills.
  • Proficient computer software (Online insurance websites and DASH) and database skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple functions.
  • Experience innovating in a fast-growing environment and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with self-discipline.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling, changing, and updating patient appointments.
  • Interview patients for demographic information and verify eligibility.
  • Collect co-pays and deductibles and verify insurance.
  • Contact insurance carriers to verify eligibility, benefits, and requirements.
  • Request, track and obtain pre-authorization from insurers.
  • Process insurance authorizations and update patient records.
  • Document communications with providers in standardized format.
  • Educate patients and coworkers on preauthorization processes.
