Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a Journeyman Insulation Technician with documented field experience to apply, remove, and repair insulation on equipment, pipes, and ductwork. The role involves reading blueprints, selecting materials, and performing installation while adhering to safety guidelines.

Typical duties include measuring, cutting, and fitting insulation, securing surfaces, and documenting work.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets blue prints, instructions, and other documentation or plan work activities.
• Participates in insulation material selection and installation.
• Follows safety procedures and hazardous waste guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blue prints, instructions, and other documentation or plan work activities.
• Determines the amounts and selects required insulation material based on heat retention, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
• Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site.
• Covers or seals insulation with covers, tape, sealant or cement.
• Fits insulation around obstructions and shapes materials.
• Installs sheet metal around insulated pipes to protect insulation from weather/physical damage.
• Measures and cuts insulation for covering surfaces.
• Prepares surfaces for insulation with adhesives or cement.
• Covers insulation to secure it to structure.
• Follows all safety guidelines, including handling of asbestos when present.
• Completes records, maintains tools, and performs cleanup.
