Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks a Science and Engineering Associate to coordinate cross-disciplinary instrument work within the LCLS Experimental Operations Division. You will support scientists, technicians and engineers, helping with maintenance, development, and deployment of experimental systems, and provide guidance on controls, vacuum, and instrumentation.

• Bachelor’s degree or five years of equivalent work experience in engineering or related field.
• Experience applying scientific/engineering principles to provide technical services and support.
• Ability to write clear documentation and manage research protocols.

Responsibilities

• Participate in technical research utilizing experimental equipment and data analysis.
• Liaise between researchers, students, staff, vendors, and outside collaborators to provide guidance.
• Support programs related to specialization; oversee experimental processes and prototype development.
• Manage, repair, and troubleshoot complex equipment and systems.
• Prepare drawings, material lists, and engineering documents for fabrication and testing.
• Coordinate installations and supervise maintenance of equipment operations.
