Job summary

Phillips 66 Company is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer II for our Sweeny, Texas refinery. The role focuses on designing, specifying, installing, and improving instrumentation systems across refinery operations, collaborating with operations, maintenance, and project teams to deliver reliable, safe, and efficient processes.

The candidate will develop instrument documentation, troubleshoot performance issues, and support field installations, calibration, and commissioning activities while

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• 3+ years of engineering experience directly related to instrumentation, analyzer systems, control systems, or related refinery/manufacturing equipment.
• Willing and able to obtain TWIC credential and a valid driver’s license.
• Travel up to 5%.
• Willing to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet.
• Ability to work safely around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat.

Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate instrumentation solutions for pressure, flow, temperature, level, analytical, and other process measurements.
• Develop and maintain instrument indexes, datasheets, specifications, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and installation details.
• Troubleshoot instrument performance issues by identifying root causes and verifying results.
• Support selection and installation of field instruments, analyzers, control valves, and related equipment.
• Guide installations and upgrades, calibration, loop checks, and commissioning activities.
• Deliver small- to medium-scale instrumentation projects within approved plans and schedules.
• Collaborate with operations to improve instrument reliability and reduce recurring failures.
• Collect and analyze instrument data to identify trends and drive process improvements.
