Instrumentation & Controls Specialist

We are looking for passionate, driven individuals to join our team focused on Delivering Solutions and Improving Lives. This position offers an opportunity for a junior-to-mid-level I&C Specialist to work with an experienced team of engineers, CAD designers, and technicians. CHI Engineering, an EPC company, will provide exposure and accelerated learning across the project lifecycle in the natural gas and LNG industries.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the selection, procurement, and installation of hardware for industrial automation equipment and instrumentation systems.
  • Design PLC control panels, networks, field junction boxes, and other control system hardware components.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of control system narratives.
  • Develop Piping and Instrument Diagrams and ensure adherence to ISA standards for the process industry.
  • Develop PLC programming software and HMI screens for LNG peak-shaving plants. Under supervision, travel to client sites to deploy, debug, and test control software during commissioning.
  • Use electrical and controls test equipment such as Fluke meters and HART Communicators to assess and diagnose faults.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers, technicians, and other staff.
  • Interface regularly with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Travel up to 25% or less, depending on site activities, within the continental US.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong analytical skills with PLC functions and controls equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize, work self-disciplined, and maintain consistency.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective working individually or in a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with AutoCAD (preferably AutoCAD Electrical) is a plus.
Education & Experience
  • At least two years of post-secondary education, training in electrical theory and industrial controls, plus 2-4 years of industrial experience.
  • Hands-on experience with designing, programming, and maintaining PLC control systems preferred.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley ControlLogix or similar systems is a plus.
