Role Overview

As a Loss Control Consultant, you’ll use exceptional communication skills to work with insureds, agents, and company personnel through consultations and educational guidance.

How You'll Make an Impact
  1. Provide loss control services to policyholders and agents in the assigned territories
  2. Complete surveys of policyholders' operations and provide consulting services to reduce accidents and injuries
  3. Make effective agency visits to key commercial agents to explain Central’s Loss Control services and resources
  4. Analyze claims, hazards, and safety data to make effective decisions and recommendations
  5. Produce professional and detailed reports of accounts surveyed and recommendations made to insureds for Underwriting
What You'll Bring
  1. Bachelor’s degree in safety, fire prevention, or a related field and two years of experience in loss control and accident prevention, or four years of relevant experience
  2. Valid driver’s license
  3. Strong organization and territory planning skills
  4. An innovative and continuous improvement mindset
  5. A positive, professional, cooperative, and quality-conscious service attitude
  6. Ability to work under pressure, deal with interpersonal conflict, and handle a heavy workload
  7. Analytical and problem-solving skills
  8. Verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills
  9. Ability to understand Central Insurance’s policies and processes
  10. Ability to make favorable impressions with agents, insureds, and company personnel
  11. Skill in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  12. Ability to travel, including occasional overnight stays
  13. Must be able to climb ladders and access building rooftops
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience in safety and health—commercial insurance background
  2. Ability to work toward professional designations such as AINS, ARM, CRP, CPCU, CFPS, CRM, ASP, CSP, OHST, CRIS, and TRIP
  3. Located near Chicago, IL area
