Job summary

TEEMA in Charlotte, North Carolina seeks an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (Nuclear) to lead design and deployment of control systems for nuclear facilities. You will prepare engineering packages, review specifications, and collaborate with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering from an accredited 4-year university.
• 5 years of experience in design, operations or field service/support for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
• 3 years of experience in design of operating nuclear power plants in the U.S.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with nuclear regulations and industry standards.
• Experience leading a team of engineers and technicians and mentoring junior staff.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Must be able to obtain unescorted access to nuclear plants and other facilities requiring background checks.
• Field experience at an operating nuclear plant.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Engineering Change Packages including wiring diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, logic diagrams for plant modification packages.
• Prepare specifications for control of plant process/auxiliary systems.
• Review logic diagrams and system descriptions for control logic integration into plant systems.
• Evaluate and specify pressure, temperature, flow, and level process instrumentation.
• Perform engineering calculations for a nuclear plant such as set-points and electrical loading changes.
• Support multiple projects and coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors and project teams.

What you will be doing:

• Prepare Engineering Change Packages including but not limited to wiring diagrams and schematics, P&IDs, logic diagrams, instrument hookups, etc. for plant modification packages including digital upgrades
• Prepare specifications for control of plant process/auxiliary systems
• Prepare and review logic diagrams and system functional descriptions for implementation of system control logic into plant control systems
• Evaluate and specify pressure, temperature, flow, and level process instrumentation
• Perform engineering calculations for a nuclear plant such as instrument set-points, electrical loading changes, etc.
• Candidates will support multiple projects and support coordination of activities with clients, contractors, vendors and other members of the project teams.

What you must have:

• B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering from an accredited 4-year university
• 5 years overall experience in design, operations or field service/support for power plants or heavy industrial facilities
• 3 years of experience relating to design of operating nuclear power plants in the U.S. Familiarity with nuclear standard design process.
• Strong knowledge of engineering design and analysis. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with nuclear regulations and industry standards
• Experience to include leading a team of engineers and technicians and training/mentoring junior staff
• Good written and oral communication skills. Must be able to interface with other members of the project team including other disciplines, client, contractors and vendors.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Expertise using Microsoft Office products
• Must be able to obtain unescorted access to nuclear plants and other facilities requiring background checks.
• Field experience at an operating nuclear plant
