Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer II for our Phoenix office. You will establish criteria for industrial systems, select controllers, and help lay out complex control environments to improve energy efficiency and process reliability.

You will program PLCs, develop HMI interfaces, and integrate with CAD/BIM tools. Travel to client sites for surveys and startup support is required.

Qualifications

• BSEE/ME/ChemE or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in Building, Process, and/or Industrial control design.
• Hands-on PLC programming and user interface development.
• Experience with industrial control networks and communication protocols.
• Ability to travel for client meetings, field surveys, limited commissioning and startup support.

Responsibilities

• Establish criteria for industrial systems, including codes applicability.
• Select controllers for various applications and set hazardous area boundaries.
• Develop system routing options; coordinate layout of industrial systems and equipment.
• Monitor, interpret, and test PLCs/DC controls.

As a Instrumentation & Controls Engineer II in our Phoenix office, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all.

In this role, you will be responsible for establishing criteria for industrial systems, including determining applicable codes, selecting controllers for various applications, and establishing hazardous are boundaries. Position is also responsible for developing system routing options; coordinating and implementing the layout of industrial systems and equipment; and, monitoring, interpreting, and conducting tests of Programmable Logic Controllers/distributed control system.

Effective skills to help you flourish:

• Experience with CAD or BIM drafting software such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD P&ID, Plant 3D, Revit.
• Allen Bradley Control/Compact Logix platform integration.
• Wonderware and System Platform integration experience.
• Experience with building automation systems.
