Qualifications

  • Ability to read mechanical and control schematics and diagrams.
  • Experience with BAS startup, configuration, calibration and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with OT/IT networks and standard office software.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop control system solutions for SCADA/Automation projects, including design documents and narratives.
  • Create subsystem designs (CAD, panels, layouts, wiring, SCADA screens, hardware, communications).
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot controllers, PLCs, RTUs, and HMIs.
  • Assist in testing, commissioning, and prepare test reports.
  • Commission deployed systems and develop testing equipment and simulations.
  • Perform factory and field testing, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Support cost estimation, scope review, and change orders with senior engineers.
  • Assign tasks and provide technical direction and training to team members.
  • Conduct site surveys and inspections for project planning and execution.

Join a dynamic engineering team in Houston, TX as a Controls & Integration Engineer III, Mechanical Focus. This role is ideal for experienced professionals passionate about designing, developing, and maintaining advanced monitoring and control systems for mission-critical environments such as data centers. The position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects involving Building Automation Systems (BAS), SCADA, PLCs, and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS). As a technical expert, you will play a key role in delivering innovative solutions to complex customer needs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting the deployment and maintenance of high-performance mechanical and control systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop control system solutions for SCADA/Automation projects, including generating design documents, narratives, and system functional documentation.
  • Perform requirements analysis and create subsystem designs (CAD, panels, layouts, wiring, SCADA screens, hardware, communications).
  • Review and comment on third-party design documents to ensure compliance with project requirements and support large-scale programs.
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot controllers, PLCs, RTUs, and HMI systems.
  • Assist in creating and updating testing and commissioning procedures, originate test procedures, and prepare test reports.
  • Commission deployed systems and develop test equipment and simulation devices.
  • Perform factory and field testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting on existing and legacy systems, including hardware/software upgrades and replacements.
  • Support cost estimation, scope review, and evaluation of change orders in collaboration with senior engineers and stakeholders.
  • Assign tasks, coordinate with technical staff, and provide technical direction and on-the-job training to less experienced team members.
  • Conduct site surveys, inspections, and tours as required for project planning and execution.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 5-7 years of field experience, or associate degree in a mechanical field with 10 years of field experience, or high school diploma with 15 years of field experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience designing and servicing control systems for chiller plants, complex air distribution equipment, equipment installation, and testing.
  • Proficiency in reading mechanical and control schematics.
  • Experience with BAS startup, configuration, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with testing, calibration, and industry-specific tools and software.
  • Experience with air handlers, chiller plant systems, and data center CRAC units.
  • Familiarity with networking design, configuration, and troubleshooting (OT and IT networks).
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAE software (e.g., Visio, AutoCAD) and schedule management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
  • Strong skills in standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Certification in one or more PLC/Automation platforms (e.g., Niagara N4, Schneider, Rockwell, Siemens, JCI, ALC, Distech).
  • Certification in one or more SCADA platforms (e.g., Iconics, Ignition, Aveva).
  • Preferred: DBIA, CSSA, or CAP certifications.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for out-of-town assignments.
