Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Bothell, WA seeks an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Designer to join our Engineering group. You will create and check I&C drawings, render 3D models, and provide on-site or remote instrumentation support within project timelines.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in industrial or power plant design, strong AutoCAD/SmartPlant skills, and solid knowledge of P&IDs and control philosophy.

Qualifications

• AA in drafting or AS degree in Instrumentation/Industrial Automation or equivalent from a qualified technical school is required.
• Two years of industrial or power plant design experience or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of P&IDs and instrumentation installation procedures.
• Proficient in AutoCAD (2D/3D) and standard AutoCAD tools.
• Experience with SmartPlant Software Suite (SPI, SPPID, SP3D).
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Complete 2D/3D layout of I&C drawings from notes, vendor drawings, SOW/DBD.
• Drafting using AutoCAD and Revit per project requirements.
• Prepare instrument installation details and junction box details.
• Check vendor/shop drawings for correctness.
• Provide interface information (equipment spacing, numbering, control philosophy).
• Perform material take-offs for bulk commodities.
• Support site personnel for instrumentation on site or remote.
• Maintain ISO 9001 compliant project documentation.
