Job summary

Research Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare in Kansas City, seeks an Instrument Room Technician to support instrument decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging and sterilization under the OR Nurse Manager.

You will monitor sterilization cycles, prepare instrument trays and rooms, handle biohazardous materials safely, and work closely with nurses and surgeons to ensure safe, high-quality, efficient surgeries.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterilization processes.

• 6–12 months of experience in a surgical or related health care setting preferred.
• Ability to exchange information clearly and follow directions from multiple sources.
• Flexible with regard to task priorities and time schedules.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the supervision of the OR Nurse Manager and the guidance and direction of the Charge Nurse for surgery systems, the Instrument Room Technician performs critical functions associated with instrument decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization

Your responsibilities will include:

• Cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and organizing surgical instruments and supplies following safety standards
• Monitoring sterilization cycles, documenting results, and resolving issues promptly to deliver on our commitment to safe, high-quality care
• Preparing and organizing instrument trays and surgical rooms based on the daily schedule and procedural needs
• Safely handling and disposing of biohazardous materials while keeping the work area clean and organized
• Working closely with nurses and surgeons to anticipate needs and support smooth, efficient surgeries

What qualifications you will need:

• Prefer basic knowledge of surgical instrumentation and all aspects ofsterilization processes.
• Prefer six months to one year in a surgical or other related health care setting.
• Knowledge of the functions of decontamination and sterilizationequipment preferred.
• Ability to exchange information in a factual, objective manner. Willingness to take direction from multiple sources.
• Ableto be flexible with regard to task priorities and time schedules.
