Job summary

Research Medical Center in Kansas City is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician Certified to ensure instruments are cleaned, sterilized and ready for every procedure. You will support safe, high-quality patient care by maintaining strict aseptic technique.

Under supervision, you will set up trays, decontaminate equipment, monitor cycles and assist with room preparation. Required within 1 year: certificate in sterile processing and CSPD/CRSCT certifications; the role includes a 3pm–11:30pm

Qualifications

  • Certificate in sterile processing or HCA training program required within 1 year.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a variable-paced, low-pressure environment.
  • Ability to operate autonomously on a varying set of tasks.
  • Mobility to move, lift, push, and pull equipment and supplies.
  • Basic knowledge of medical supplies, equipment and sterile technique.
  • Good interpersonal, problem solving and team-building skills.
  • Certifications (CRSCT or CSPDT) required within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Shift: 3pm - 11:30pm with rotating weekends.
  • Clean, disinfect, sterilize, and organize instruments and supplies following safety standards.
  • Monitor sterilization cycles, document results, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Prepare and organize instrument trays and rooms based on the daily schedule.
  • Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials; keep area clean and organized.
  • Work closely with nurses and surgeons to support efficient surgeries.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you'll play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care by making sure every instrument is thoroughly cleaned, sterilized, and ready when needed. Your focus on safety and attention to detail helps protect patients and empowers a team that’s committed to the care and improvement of human life – one surgery at a time.

Under the close supervision of Department Supervisor or Lead Technician, performs all tasks related to the set up, delivery, pickup, decontamination and maintenance of medical equipment, procedure trays and carts; sterilization of supplies and instruments; folding and assembling of linen packs and delivering of supply orders; maintenance of equipment record billing; setting up and removing traction equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Shift: 3pm - 11:30pm with rotating weekends

  • Safely handling and disposing of biohazardous materials while keeping the work area clean and organized
  • Working closely with nurses and surgeons to anticipate needs and support smooth, efficient surgeries
What qualifications you will need:
  • Completion of a certificate program or HCA training program in Sterile Processing required within 1 year
  • Ability to work as part of a team in an atmosphere that is variable paced low pressure.
  • Ability to operate autonomously on a varying set of tasks.
  • Requires mobility and ability to move, lift, push, and pull equipment & supplies.
  • Basic knowledge of medical supplies, equipment, instruments, and sterile/aseptic technique preferred. Basic keyboard skills are preferable.
  • Good interpersonal and problem solving and team building skills are required.
  • Certifications (CRSCT or CSPDT) required within 1 year.
