Job summary

LJA Engineering in Florida is seeking an Instrument Person to support surveying field operations. You will transport and set up surveying instruments, clear brush, lay out stakes, and assist the survey team to prepare sites for measurement.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or GED, strong written and spoken communication, and the ability to build relationships with internal and external clients. Occasional lifting and outdoor work are required, with driving between project sites.

POSITION OVERVIEW: As an Instrument Person at LJA Engineering you will be responsible for transporting and setting up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing job site for survey

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

• Party Chief gives direction for this position
• Transport and set up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing job site for survey
• Clear brush or trees away from survey line
• Lays out stakes to prepare for elevation measurements
• Holding prism pole steady for the surveyor to help determine elevations of different points
• Measures how far different points are from each other Horizontally
• Helps with various pieces of survey equipment

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• HS Graduate or GED

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong communication skills both oral and written
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients

Physical Requirements:

• Occasional lifting/carrying of 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds
• Driving to and from various project sites
• Walking and working outdoors under variable weather conditions.
