LJA Engineering is seeking a Party Chief to manage surveying operations, set up instruments, and prepare field notes and sketches for land surveys. The role involves hands-on fieldwork, data collection with Trimble/Topcon gear, and coordinating with project teams to ensure accurate boundary and topographic data.

You will work in a collaborative environment with experienced leaders, traveling to project sites and contributing to design and engineering efforts across multiple client projects.

Responsabilités

• Proficient in running surveying equipment (Trimble/Topcon GPS) with data collectors.
• Use Level instruments for level loops to achieve vertical control in topographic surveys.
• Locate property corners and prepare sketches of metes and bounds descriptions.
• Capture photos of property corners and document measurements for tying in corners.
• Upload field data into data collectors and prepare text files for CAD work.

POSITION OVERVIEW: As an Party Chief at LJA Engineering , you will be responsible for transporting and setting up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing job site for survey.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

• - Be proficient in running all surveying equipment (Trimble or Topcon GPS with data collects) and Trimble Robotic total stations with data collectors.
• - Use Level instruments to run level loops to get the best vertical control and better accuracy when performing topographic surveys in parking areas and along street and roads for engineering design.
• - Party chief should be able to calculate the position of property corners on properties and along street and road right-of -ways.
• - Be able to prepare a working sketch of a metes and bounds description or field notes description of a property.
• - With working sketch and metes and bounds description, the party chief should be able to locate sufficient property corners to set the missing corners before leaving the sit, if possible.
• - When locating the property corners, party chief should take photos of the property corner found, including measuring the size of the corner found and include the point number when the property corner is tied in.- Upload existing text files into the data collector for each project, as well and downloading the data and creating a text file for CAD work.
• - Good note keeper that pays attention to details and follows instructions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• - HS Graduate or GED

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• - Strong communication skills both oral and written
• - Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients

Physical Requirements:

• - Occasional lifting/carrying of 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds
• - Driving to and from various project sites
• - Walking and working outdoors under variable weather conditions.
