LJA Engineering in Texas is seeking an Instrument Person to transport and set up surveying instruments, preparing job sites for fieldwork and assisting the survey team. You will help ensure accurate measurements and efficient site setup.

Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, the ability to build relationships with clients and teammates, and a readiness to operate outdoors under varying conditions.

• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients.

Responsibilities

• Transport and set up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing job site for survey.
• Clear brush or trees away from survey line.
• Lays out stakes to prepare for elevation measurements.
• Holding prism pole steady for the surveyor to help determine elevations of different points.
• Measures how far different points are from each other horizontally.
• Helps with various pieces of survey equipment.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE

• Party Chief gives direction for this position
• Transport and set up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing job site for survey
• Clear brush or trees away from survey line
• Lays out stakes to prepare for elevation measurements
• Holding prism pole steady for the surveyor to help determine elevations of different points
• Measures how far different points are from each other Horizontally
• Helps with various pieces of survey equipment

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

• HS Graduate or GED

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong communication skills both oral and written
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients

Physical Requirements

• Occasional lifting/carrying of 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds
• Driving to and from various project sites
• Walking and working outdoors under variable weather conditions.
