Job summary

EXCEL Group is seeking an Instrument Fitter to install, calibrate, and maintain a wide range of industrial instruments and control systems across our projects.

You will interpret technical drawings, P&IDs and schematics; install, calibrate, test, and commission instruments; troubleshoot issues, and document all activities. You must follow safety protocols, work with project teams, and ensure reliable operation of instrumentation in demanding environments.

Job description

Are you experienced in installing, maintaining, and calibrating a wide range of industrial instruments and control systems? EXCEL Group is seeking a skilled Instrument Fitter to join our team. As an Instrument Fitter, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate installation and functionality of instrumentation equipment crucial to our industrial processes.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret and analyze technical drawings, P&IDs, and schematics to understand the requirements for installing industrial instruments and control systems.
• Execute the installation, assembly, and calibration of various industrial instruments, including pressure gauges, temperature sensors, flow meters, control valves, and more.
• Utilize specialized tools and equipment to mount, align, and connect instruments and control devices accurately.
• Install and terminate wiring and cables for instrument connections, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, electricians, and other tradespeople to coordinate installation activities and overcome technical challenges.
• Perform testing and calibration procedures to verify the accuracy and functionality of installed instruments.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to industrial instruments, implementing repairs and adjustments as necessary.
• Maintain meticulous documentation of installations, calibrations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Adhere rigorously to safety protocols and established procedures when working with hazardous materials or in high-risk environments.
• Contribute your expertise to team discussions, sharing insights for process improvements and optimization.
• Keep your work area organized and clean to ensure efficient operations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent. Technical education or certification in industrial instrumentation is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience as an Instrument Fitter or in a similar role in industrial settings.
• Profound understanding of industrial instrumentation, control systems, and process automation.
• Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing technical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical diagrams.
• Familiarity with a diverse range of industrial instruments, sensors, and control devices.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently.
• Effective communication skills, enabling collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
• Physical capability to perform tasks that involve climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
• In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and protocols pertaining to industrial instrument installation.
