Job Summary

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks an Instrument Fitter for a project in Wilmington, NC. Hired candidates will be considered for Benefits/Paid Time Off after 3 months.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Plans layout, fabricates, assembles, repairs and installs instruments, both electronic and pneumatic, including primary piping, tubing and other instrument needs.

  • Take measurements, fabricate and install pipe tubing or conduit for the installation of air or process lines for instrument controls using port-a-band, tubing cutters and tubing benders.
  • Install instruments, instrument stands and control wiring to valves and stroke valves to verify operation.
  • Installation and calibration of recorders, alarms, switches and other devices.
  • Installation and activation of DCS systems.
  • Help coordinate movement of materials & equipment to work locations and set up a work site.
  • Complete and review records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform various cleanup activities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pneumatics, electronics and electricity.
  • Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
  • Observe all safety and project rules.
  • Read ISO's, Blueprints, P&ID's.
  • Read and interpret instructions, plan, document and perform work activities independently.
  • Solve practical problems such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience.
  • Skilled in both written and verbal communication.
  • Complete all Safety and general job training as required by SIC.
  • Adhere to SIC and Customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
  • Work in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, including confined spaces.
  • Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
  • Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.
