Job summary

Arnold Magnetic Technologies in Nebraska is seeking an Industrial Instrumentation Technician to install, calibrate, and service instrumentation and control systems in our plant. You will diagnose faults, read P&IDs, and collaborate with engineers to ensure optimal performance.

You will maintain calibration records, support upgrades and reliability projects, and follow safety regulations while working on-site with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial instrumentation, automation, or controls (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of measurement principles, control theory, and process instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with PLC and Motor drive systems from major manufacturers (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens).
  • Ability to use PCs, calibration equipment, diagnostic tools; experience with DMM, oscilloscope, PLC logic, and hand/power tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work safely in industrial environments.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install and commission instrumentation devices including pressure, temperature, level, flow, analytical instruments, and control valves.
  • Perform routine calibration, testing, and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems.
  • Diagnose and repair instrumentation faults, wiring issues, and communication errors (analog, digital).
  • Work with PLCs, SCADA systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including calibration records, work orders.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Support engineering and operations teams in system upgrades, equipment improvements, and reliability projects.
  • Ensure work complies with industry standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
  • Participate in shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency repair work as required.
  • Report equipment conditions and recommend improvements or replacements.

Overview

The Industrial Instrumentation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of industrial instrumentation and control systems. This role ensures that plant equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to lift, climb, and meet physical demands of the role.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance and predictive technologies.
  • Safety certifications such as OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E.
Work Environment
  • Climate controlled industrial setting.
  • Exposure to process equipment.
  • On‑call schedules, and overtime may be required depending on plant needs. Work week is Monday through Friday and overtime may be required depending on plant needs.
