Job summary

LANXESS in East Hanover seeks an I&E Maintenance Technician responsible for ensuring the availability of tools and parts for equipment upkeep, troubleshooting electrical and control issues, and managing cost efficiencies. The ideal candidate must have a High School Diploma, a technical degree, or substantial work experience in the electrical field.

You should have at least 3 years of manufacturing experience and be committed to safety and teamwork. This position operates on a 2nd shift schedule with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.

Job Overview

The I&E Maintenance technician shall ensure all required tools, parts and supplies are available for each job performed; will complete required service records; and will be responsible for recommending and/or initiating equipment modifications and/or replacement of electrical components as well as performing and supporting installation of new equipment.

Job Highlights

• Provide support to operations in running machines to safely maximize efficiency and productivity.
• Assist with troubleshooting equipment issues and address downtime promptly and effectively.
• Lead and/or participate in root cause analysis for operating problems, identifying contributing causes and working to eliminate them for continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot electrical or control issues by reading logic in DCS, MDC, or PLCs and using diagnostic equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues related to paper machine coordinated drives.
• Maintain spares to ensure equipment availability when required.
• Effectively utilize and maintain the SAP Maintenance System, following all computer‑based and paper processes for work order completion and documentation.

Cost Management

• Manage costs that can be impacted wisely and eliminate waste (parts, tools, time, personnel).
• Strive to reduce store inventory requirements by increasing reliability through predictive monitoring, scheduled, and preventive maintenance.
• Debottleneck operations by addressing upcoming production needs and proactively resolving issues before scheduled requirements.

Equipment and Facility Maintenance

• Maintain housekeeping standards.
• Perform inspections as required.
• Complete maintenance care responsibilities and initiate or assist with equipment repair as needed.

Experience / Skills

• Must be willing to work 2nd Shift, Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM until 11:30 PM.
• High School Diploma or equivalence required.
• 2‑year technical degree or 5 years industrial work experience in a relevant electrical field.
• Minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience as an IE technician.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic mathematics and numeracy skills.
• PLC, DCS, VFD experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Committed to safety and organizational goals.
• Self‑motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Available for on‑call duty.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for continuous periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Capable of working safely in a hot, humid, noisy, and high‑volume machine production area.
• Willingness to work safely and wear PPE as required.
