Job summary

Applitrack is seeking an Instructor for a 10-month program to educate and train students for workplace or higher education success. The role requires managing classrooms, organizing materials, and delivering competency-based instruction across multiple modalities.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in welding or teaching, knowledge of SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and a valid driver’s license. Oklahoma teaching certification will be pursued upon employment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in welding or related field or teaching is required.
  • Knowledge of welding practices in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW; industry certifications preferred.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage classroom to create optimal learning environments and balance discipline.
  • Plan and organize instructional materials, update lesson plans, and instruct using competency-based curricula.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback toward required competencies and program completion.
  • Provide counseling and coordinate with administrators to support student retention and completion.

Note: This position is a 10-month Work Contract, working August – May of the school year.
Description: Educate and train studentsto gain skills, knowledge and behaviors and support their successful entry into the workplace or higher education, in a manner that supports the program within industry and the community and is consistent with District Core Values.
Essential Functions:

  • Effectively manage the classroom to create optimal learning environment, maintaining an appropriate balance of classroom discipline.
  • Plan and organize instructional materials/supply inventories/tools/equipment, update lesson plans and instruct students in competency-based developmental program curriculum using current instructional strategies appropriate to subject matter (i.e., classroom, self-paced, Blackboard interactive website, lab, clinicals, etc.) to assure highest quality classroom instruction.
  • Evaluate students on a recurrent basis to provide timely indications of student's progress toward competencies and knowledge required for successful completion of program.
  • Provide academic, personal, and behavioral counseling to students to support their successful completion of program requirements. Collaborate with District administration and Student Service representatives to devise appropriate intervention measures to effect maximum student retention and program completion.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of student attendance, academic progress and grades as required by district policy and certification agencies.
  • Process, maintain and/or monitor paperwork required for district operations (inventory purchasing, follow-up data, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain community/business contacts and participate with industry advisory committee to promote interaction among students and practitioners, assure the program curriculum remains a current reflection of job market skill requirements and to facilitate placement of students.
  • Participate in projects/assignments in support of the campus or program, as assigned, which might include activities such as assistance with CTSO activities/competitions, attendance at school events, performing monitoring duty in assigned area, etc.
  • Continue to develop professional expertise in educational methodology and learning strategies as well as in industry-specific topics through attendance/participation at conferences, professional development training, professional associations, periodic industry internships and industry related events.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in making decisions regarding the provision of services to internal and external customers and in day-to-day operations of the department. Interpret and implement policies in a manner consistent with the interests of the district. Provide advice and consultation to executive management as requested. Investigate and resolve issues, as needed, represent the department and district in a professional manner to all.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and timely arrival in accordance with scheduled work hours.
  • Perform all other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
  • 3–5 years of experience working in welding or related field or teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of welding practices and procedures in the following areas: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW. Industry Certifications are preferred.
  • Valid state issued driver's license.

Must obtain Oklahoma Department of CareerTech (ODCTE) teaching certification with a Trade & Industrial endorsement upon employment.

  • Bilingual is a plus

Salary Schedule:

10 Month Instructor

Hiring Range:

$61,239 to $71,690 annually dependent on experience and education, plus additional $9,900 compensation for salary-in-lieu of dependent benefit coverage.

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds. Must be able to travel or work extended hours, as needed.

Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
