Job summary

Reading Area Community College (RACC) seeks an Instructor for the Institutional and Commercial Culinary Program. The role involves teaching credit and non-credit courses such as ZICC-100 and ZICC-120 to prepare students for high-volume culinary careers in hospitals, schools, and corporate dining.

The instructor will combine technical culinary expertise with strong instructional practice, support workforce readiness, and promote equity and inclusion in classroom, lab, and online settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and ServSafe certification required; 3+ years in large-scale food service.
• Experience in instructional or workforce training in culinary settings.
• Ability to teach hands-on labs and online/Canvas environments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and teach assigned courses aligned with program outcomes (food safety, large-scale production).
• Deliver instruction in both hands-on lab settings and classroom/online environments (Canvas).
• Review and post syllabi on the first day of class, including outcomes, grading policy, attendance, schedule and LMS access.
• Teach and model industry-standard practices such as ServSafe compliance, HACCP, OSHA and institutional food service best practices.
• Evaluate student learning through assessments, practical demonstrations, and reflection activities.
• Provide timely feedback, coaching and mentoring to students.
• Promote retention and engagement by contacting students with irregular attendance and encouraging persistence.
• Maintain accurate course records and participate in professional development.
