Texas State Technical College (TSTC) is looking for an Instructor to deliver approved curriculum and facilitate student learning in the electrical construction field. The ideal candidate will possess a Journeyman or master electrician license and have a strong commitment to student success.

Job Description

Instructor at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) delivering approved curriculum and facilitating student learning in an applied learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students.
  • Develop course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative and innovative techniques.
  • Interpret and administer assessments, offering constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes.
  • Integrate technology effectively to enrich educational experiences.
  • Mentor and coach students, providing personalized guidance and support.
  • Maintain accurate student records; manage schedule and instructional environment with emphasis on safety.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to ensure students receive current information on tutoring and other retention programs.
  • Participate in related tours and recruitment events; assist in department/program planning for recruitment.
  • Demonstrate willingness to be of service and courteous behavior toward students, parents, employers, staff, and the community.
  • Maintain flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or summer as appropriate and work effectively in a team environment.
Qualifications
  • Verifiable work experience in the electrical construction industry.
  • Journeyman or master electrician license through TDLR.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and PPE protocols, NEC applications and requirements, AC and DC circuits, and installation of NM and MC cable systems.
  • Ability to calculate branch, feeder, and service loads, establish wire sizes, and provide overcurrent protection.
  • Blueprint interpretation and experience with residential, commercial, and industrial wiring applications.
  • Conduit bending, strapping, and support systems; single and three‑phase electrical systems; wire pulling; grounding and bonding;
  • Panel termination, device installation, service entrances.
  • Basic PLCs and motor controls, electrical testing instruments, hand and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with technology for instruction.
Preferred Skills
  • 5 years of work experience in the electrical industry.
  • Electrical training or teaching experience.
  • OSHA 10 training or above.
Education
  • Associate degree in a closely related field; demonstrated qualifications in the technology’s teaching discipline.
  • Professional experience may be accepted in lieu of other requirements as approved by the Vice Chancellor or designee.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a closely related teaching discipline.
