Job Description

TSTC faculty deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship to students. Faculty will also interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences. Faculty act as ambassadors for their programs and TSTC.

Faculty will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students, and members of the community.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Delivery: Prepare and deliver high‑quality instruction, facilitate student learning, develop syllabi and instructional plans, organize daily classes using creative and innovative techniques.
• Instructional Management: Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student records, maintain safety and equipment security, provide student and participant evaluation opportunities.
• Student Retention & Placement: Advise students timely and accurately; collaborate with the Office of Student Success for tutoring and retention programs.
• Program Recruitment & Promotion: Participate in tours and recruitment events; assist in department and program planning for recruitment.
• Teamwork & Service: Demonstrate service‑oriented behavior, courteous interaction with students, parents, employers, and the public; show flexibility, including availability for evenings, weekends, or summer assignments.
• Other Duties As Assigned: Perform additional duties as directed.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Certifications or Licenses

• Verifiable work experience in Electrical Power & Controls or a closely related industry.
• Expertise in electrical safety procedures (PPE selection, lock‑out/tag‑out), nominal voltage, energized parts, and approach distances.
• Knowledge of electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and the use of industry‑specific tools, meters, and testing equipment.
• Proficiency with DC and AC circuits, systems, components, and electrical formulas (voltage, ohms, amperes, power, inductance, capacitance).
• Experience selecting, installing, and maintaining electric motor control systems, ladder logic, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and motor speed controls for DC and AC motors.
• Understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and application to electrical installations.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution and transmission systems, transformer types, primary/secondary calculations, phase angle, real, apparent, and reactive power, and power factor.
• Ability to install cable terminations with proper shielding and conduct system component testing and maintenance procedures.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Certifications or Licenses

• TDLR Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
• Verified experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and Studio 5000 software suite.
• Experience with AutoCAD software suite.
• Fundamental knowledge of switchgear protective relaying equipment.
• NCCER electrical certifications.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certifications.

Education and Experience

Verifiable and demonstrated experience required in the electrical industry. No specific degree requirement is listed.
