Job summary

Cecil College is seeking a part-time Electrical Apprenticeship instructor to lead classroom and hands-on lab sessions. The role focuses on residential, commercial, and industrial wiring, with emphasis on NEC knowledge and safety.

You will document student progress and support fellow staff in a dynamic educational environment. Responsibilities include providing engaging instruction, maintaining records, and ensuring a positive learning atmosphere while aligning with program goals and safety

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Approved Apprenticeship program.
  • Journeyman’s license with documented training in Electrical Theory.
  • Master Electrician’s License is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct Apprentices in residential, commercial, and industrial wiring.
  • Provide hands-on lab instruction with safety as a priority.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance.

About Us Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees. Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware. With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs. Job Description The qualified applicant will be involved in a fast-paced, educational setting, instructing Apprentices in the electrical industry. Instructor should have experience, expertise, and the ability to effectively instruct Apprentices in the different Electrical Construction aspects of the traded such as:

  • Residential
  • Commercial
  • Industrial Wiring

Instructors will provide support to students and fellow staff members, work in a lab setting providing hands-on instruction with safety in mind, keep accurate records of student achievement, and an ability to maintain discipline in a classroom setting.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the NEC, with a thorough understanding of Electrical Theory and Code compliance specific to Construction Electricity.
  • A thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in installing and repairing electrical systems, controls, and electrical machinery and equipment in buildings, programmable logic controllers, and construction site wiring;
  • Computer literacy with programs such as MS Word and PowerPoint; Experience with distance or remote learning a plus.
  • Must be a self-starter, creative in problem solving, exercise good judgments and ethics, and have superior customer service skills;
  • An understanding of AC/DC electronics/ electricity, basic mathematics, solid state and digital electronics;
  • Excellent communication skills.

Specific Position Requirements

  • Completion of an Approved Apprenticeship program, Journeyman’s license with documented training in Electrical Theory or a Master Electrician’s License.
  • Experience in the Electrical Construction trade as an Electrical Foreman, Inspector, supervisor or other active position.

  • The salary for tis role is $38/hr. Schedule is T/Th 5:30pm - 9pm.
