Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College areresponsible for supporting student success by creating an optimumlearning environment, responding to student needs, managingeffective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses,modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism,developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty andstaff, supporting college administrative requirements, andmaintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will beresponsible for quality instruction and for effective participationand interest in the total affairs of the college
Under general supervision, this individual will develop, prepare,and teach computer science courses designed for transfer andsupport of career technical programs focusing on computerprogramming and database management. Faculty will also beresponsible for advising students and collaborating with 4-yeareducational partners when appropriate to ensure transferabilityofcourses. The faculty member will collaborate with industry partnersto ensure relevancy of the curriculum.
Education Required
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science ora related field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hour creditsin Information Technology, Computer Science or related field froman institutionally accredited college or university.
Education Preferred
- Doctoral degree in Information Technology, Computer Science ora related field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hour creditsin Information Technology, Computer Science or related field froman institutionally accredited college or university.
Experience Required
- Three years relevant IT industry experience in object-orientedcomputer programming and/or database management.
- Teaching and/or industry training experience in computerscience and/or database management topics in any of the followingformats: teaching courses, training sessions, conductingprofessional development workshops, and/or other continuingeducation seminars.
- Experience with Python, Java, or C# programming languages.
Experience Preferred
- Current industry-recognized certification(s) within the fieldof computer programming or database management ( OCP, OCA, Java,MCSD, etc.)
- Post-secondary teaching experience in computer science and/ordatabase management
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternateinstructional delivery systems
