Job summary

BronxWorks is seeking dedicated support for Cornerstone youth programs in New York City. You will assist in achieving academic goals, help design engaging activities, and support staff during trips and events while building strong relationships with families.

The role emphasizes communication, organization and reliability as you contribute to high quality programming across multiple sites and partner networks in the Bronx and NYC.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 months to 1 year of experience in youth services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other standard business technology.
  • Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Support the academic goals of participants under supervision.
  • Contribute to high quality programming; assist with program design and evaluations.
  • Engage participants in activities, field trips and workshops.
  • Create a nurturing environment for participants.
  • Assist leadership with staff meetings, orientations, trips and events.
  • Build relationships with parents and families of participants.
  • Attend internal and external meetings and trainings.
  • Submit required reports to supervisor.

Our Cornerstone community center youth programs are designed to provide engaging, high-quality youth services in partnership with NYCHA and our strong network of nonprofit providers across the City. The Cornerstone adult programs are designed to enhance skills and promote social interaction, community engagement, and physical activity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Program Director to support the academic goals of the participants.
  • Help ensure for high quality programming. Offer input on program goals, program design, and evaluations of program activities.
  • Engage participants during program in various activities, trip outings and workshops.
  • Create a nurturing and supportive environment for the participants.
  • Work with the leadership team to plan and facilitate staff meetings, orientation, trips, events, etc.
  • Develop and build relationships with parents and families of program participants.
  • Attend internal and external agency meetings and trainings.
  • Submit reports as required including monthly reports to supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 months to 1-year experience working in youth services
  • Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
