NATURE AND SCOPE :

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Early Learning Education, the Instructional Support Coach is a specially prepared professional responsible for the literacy and language performance of young children, especially those facing struggles within their schools or centers. The Instructional Support Coach will provide high-level literacy and language development support for members of the school or center.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) :
  1. Provide resources and training to school or center staff on scientifically based early language and literacy research and evidence-based practices.
  2. Coach classroom lead and assistant teachers through modeling/demonstration, co-teaching, observation, and feedback on the implementation of core, supplemental, and intensive intervention approaches for birth to five early language and literacy development, using data from valid and reliable assessments for instructional decision-making.
  3. Support the implementation of the core curricular program and approaches as selected by program directors, collaborating with publishers as necessary.
  4. Establish and oversee a peer mentoring support network for teachers, including classroom observations to implement recommended practices.
  5. Re-deliver literacy content or advanced seminar content to teachers and assistant teachers; lead study groups to discuss research, enhance programs with research-based content, and share implementation experiences.
  6. Act as a catalyst for building a school/center learning community focusing on integrated learning and cross-classroom connections.
  7. Lead and coordinate the school/center assessment team: help administer literacy assessments for screening, progress monitoring, diagnostics, and outcomes.
  8. Coach teachers on assessment data interpretation to monitor progress and determine needs for supplemental or intensive intervention and small group instruction.
  9. Familiarize with administration and interpretation of diagnostic assessments used in early education.
  10. Review intervention materials for alignment with literacy initiatives based on available evidence.
  11. Organize and lead professional development to disseminate literacy content organization-wide.
  12. Meet regularly with leadership to assess and modify literacy initiative implementation.
  13. Analyze literacy strengths and weaknesses across schools/centers and develop improvement plans.
  14. Create an environment of trust and collaboration to promote professional growth and literacy achievement.
  15. Attend professional development and networking events for Literacy Initiative Coaches.
  16. Support implementation of Early Learning Signature Programs to ensure quality.
  17. Assist in meeting School Readiness Goals and creating systems supporting high-quality early childhood education.
  18. Conduct CLASS Assessments Sweeps and enter Head Start education tracking forms.
  19. Support Education Managers with classroom needs.
REQUIREMENTS :
  • Bachelor’s degree in reading, early childhood education, special education, or related field.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies, instructional analysis, and providing clear implementation guidance.
  • Valid GA provisional teacher certification with documented reading coursework.
  • Experience as a coach or mentor in literacy topics.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of research-based early language and literacy practices and assessment of student progress.
  • Hands-on experience with data-driven decision-making.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS :
  • Master’s Degree in education or related areas.
  • 3+ years of preschool/pre-K teaching experience.
