Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring an Instructional Services Coordinator Senior. This position will perform professional-level technical and analytical work in the MakerSpace pertaining to its daily operations and its related functions. This position will also serve as a subject matter expert for use of tools, machinery, and completion of projects in the college setting and for external partners.
To best serve the students, department, and college, this position is fully in-person.
Essential Functions
- 20% – Serves as the primary point of contact for faculty, staff, and community partners seeking MakerSpace support, providing consultation, project planning, and coordination for internal and external initiatives.
- 20% – Independently manages projects from concept through completion, including design, fabrication, production, documentation, and final assembly, while ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery.
- 20% – Provides day-to-day leadership, training, and guidance to student workers and temporary staff, including onboarding, workflow coordination, skill development, and reinforcement of operational procedures and customer service standards.
- 10% – Coordinates and supports community engagement activities, workshops, demonstrations, outreach events, and partnerships that promote MakerSpace programs and services.
- 10% – Develops, maintains, and updates operational documentation, training materials, equipment procedures, and best practices to support consistent service delivery and safe equipment use.
- 10% – Assists MakerSpace users with hardware and software operation, providing guidance on equipment use, technology resources, and basic troubleshooting.
- 10% – Researches, tests, installs, maintains, and updates software and equipment associated with MakerSpace operations; other duties as assigned commensurate to grade level of position.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field AND two (2) years of full‑time equivalent related experience such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in the area of assignment.
- OR Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field AND four (4) years of full‑time equivalent related experience such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in the area of assignment.
- Equivalent combination of degree and directly related full‑time work experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties, unless subject to other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Desired Qualifications
- One bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, Business, Art/Graphic Design, Social/Behavioral Sciences.
- Two (2) years’ experience with technical equipment – 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl printer/plotters, wide format printing, electrical soldering, woodshop, etc.
- Two (2) years’ experience with design software – Adobe Suite, CAD modeling, RIP software, PCB design.
- Two (2) years’ experience training or mentoring users on technical equipment and safe shop practices.
- Two (2) years’ experience and knowledge of shop safety standards, PPE requirements, and hazard mitigation procedures including waste disposal procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and support users with competing deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- One (1) year of full‑time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years.

Special Working Conditions
