Job summary

KIPP North Carolina is seeking an Assistant Principal to lead a positive, structured school culture, coach teachers, and drive academic excellence across K-12 for 3,000 students in NC. You will coordinate curricula, assess performance and lead professional development to elevate teaching and learning.

With a deep commitment to equity, you will partner with families and staff, manage behavior plans, and ensure high expectations while growing leaders within a 12-month leadership framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant content area.
• At least 3 full years of teaching experience in K–12.
• At least 1 year of experience managing and/or coaching K–12 teachers.
• Active North Carolina teaching license or ability to seek reciprocity from another state.
• Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap.
• Criminal background check required.
• Zest, professionalism and a sense of humor.

Responsibilities

• Observe and coach teachers weekly, providing rigorous feedback.
• Plan and execute professional development days with the Principal and colleagues.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, teachers and staff.
• Hold mid-year and end-of-year performance reviews to support teacher growth.
• Document observations and feedback in Whetstone to track teacher growth.
• Develop and execute high-quality, standards-based curricula and instructional content.
• Monitor student achievement using data to target interventions.
• Attend and facilitate productive content team meetings.
