SUMMARY: The Instructional Lead’s chief responsibilities are to assist with the overall quality of instruction provided by classroom teachers. These responsibilities include but are not limited to formal and informal classroom observations and feedback, model lessons, support with lesson planning, assistance with instructional platforms, and data analysis from various sources. The Instructional Lead for curriculum and instruction works closely with the principal, assistant principal, and other administrators to ensure the quality of classroom instruction is conducive to producing high student achievement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. - Demonstrate knowledge of grade level and content standards.
- Ensure conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development, and coordination activities.
- As needed, conducts research and aids in the implementation of curriculum resources that meet state standards.
- Support the instructional development of all teachers.
- Support teachers with utilization of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment documents including curriculum map and scope and sequence documents.
- Collaborate with assistant principal and district instructional teams to develop, plan, and facilitate professional learning communities and trainings.
- Use data for planning and facilitating grade band data analysis professional learning community.
- Support and monitor instructional use of platforms (Canvas, Jigsaw, Illuminate).
- Build Canvas course(s) using the blueprint.
- Set up and monitor Canvas calendar set up.
- Ensure compliance of weekly lesson plan submission.
- Review the completion of lesson plans and provide constructive feedback.
- Conduct teacher evaluations and observations per state requirements using the TKES platform.
- Evaluate instructional delivery and provide timely feedback.
- Collaborate and sync instructional delivery visits with instructional team.
- Attend instructional planning and observation debriefing sessions with Curriculum Coordinator and/or instructional team.
- Review interim assessments (district benchmarks) and provide instructional feedback to Curriculum.
- Attend district focus walks.
- Monitor execution of data action plans and provide timely feedback.
- Liaison instructional requests and distribution (materials, platforms, supplies) to Curriculum.
- Support local education agency (LEA) by attending meetings and completing required expectations.
- Conduct weekly open offices to support grade band content team.
- Cover instructional class periods in absence of teacher, as needed.
- Support grade level chairs with module content creation updates (verify content, due dates, structure, etc).
- Attend trainings for curriculum and instruction resources.
- Support teachers with completion of tasks such as testing preparation.
- Facilitate one-on-one meetings with teachers.
- Ensure that the school is meeting the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws regarding special education and other categorical programs.
- Assist with the development and oversee implementation of the school’s student achievement plan and work with the academic team to implement the plan.
- Assist with parent and student concerns and issues relative to curriculum and instruction.
- Assist in the coordinating and implementing of school meetings.
- Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
- Work collaboratively with other administrators and the curriculum team to ensure quality instruction and improved student achievement.
- Facilitate trainings and conversations about student growth data and progress towards academic achievement (i.e. Data meetings & Professional Learning Communities).
- Assist in the review and interview process of potential candidates.
- Attend all required training by the Georgia Department of Education and GCA.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal and/or Principal.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Director, K-12 Curriculum & Instructional Programs Assistant Director, and/or Superintendent.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, ELA, or related field of study AND
- Three (3) years’ leadership experience AND
- Three (3) years’ virtual teaching experience, earning a “Meets” or “Exceeds” expectations in all categories at each year-end review OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
- Desired Advanced Degree in Education, ELA, or related field of study.
- GA PSC Educational Certificate for Secondary Grades in Math, ELA, SCI, and/or SS (6-12) Required.
- Leadership Endorsement, Certificate, or Degree.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess knowledge of school improvement process.
- Must have experience working with large data sets including display.
- Ability to read and interpret student academic data and psycho-educational reports.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws, and other pertinent laws regarding K-12 Education as they relate to applicable duties.
- Familiarity with online learning environment.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, OneNote, and G-Suite.
- Knowledge of the Georgia Performance Standards and GADOE Implementation Manual.
- Knowledge of the SCSC Comprehensive Performance Framework.
- Knowledge of GaDOE CCRPI.
- Ability to read and interpret student academic data and educational reports.
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
- Ability to manage competing priorities with attention to deadlines.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced Degree in Education, Leadership, Special Education, or related field of study.
- Advanced Excel knowledge and skills.
- Gifted Endorsement, ESOL Certification, and/or Special Education Certification a plus.
- Three (3) years of experience working in a virtual educational environment collecting and interpreting data.
- K-12 educational experience in the form of Teaching, Academic Intervention, or related instructional areas.
- Previous experience as a Learning Coach, Advisor, or Teacher at Georgia Cyber Academy.
- Previous experience as an online educator.
- Proficient with web-based tools.
- Previous experience with online educational tools/curriculum/assessments.
- Working knowledge of Infinite Campus (SIS).
- Working knowledge of Canvas (LMS).
- Working knowledge of Jigsaw Interactive (live classroom tool).
- Experience using NWEA MAP, Illuminate DnA, WriteScore, FLVS Global, Edgenuity, Discovery Education, Writable, NEWSELA, Legends of Learning, USA Test Prep, IXL, BrainPOP, Edmentum Exact Path, Moby Max, iReady, Classworks, Nearpod, etc.
- Proficient in use of Zoom conferencing tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- This is a Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, 5 days/week, and is Primarily Remote.
- This position may require traveling up to 25% of the time. The noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).
- During critical periods, additional in-office days may be required.
- In-person attendance at professional development, training, conferences, job fairs, meetings, school events, marketing events, and testing sites will be required several times per year.
