Performance Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
- Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school.
- Keeps the superintendent informed of school activities and problems.
- Makes recommendations concerning the school’s administration and instruction.
- Assists in the management and preparation of the school budget.
- Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school’s administration.
- Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.
- Maintains active relationships with students and parents.
- Budgets school time to provide for the efficient conduct of instruction and business.
- Leads in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program.
- Schedules classes within established guidelines to meet student needs.
- Assists in the development, revision, and evaluation of the building-level implementation of the district curriculum.
- Supervises the guidance program to enhance individual student education and development.
- Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according to due process rights of students.
- Attends special events recognizing student achievement and participates in school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events.
- Maintains and controls various local funds generated by student activities.
- Assumes responsibility for student attendance, conduct, and health.
- Commits to professional growth through membership and participation in professional organizations and attends regional, state, and national meetings.
- Supervises all professional, administrative, and support personnel attached to the school.
- Assists in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating the school’s professional staff.
- Supervises the teaching process within the school.
- Orients and develops newly assigned staff members.
- Plans and participates in the evaluation of staff performance.
- Conducts staff meetings as necessary for the school's proper functioning.
- Provides in-service orientation and training for teachers.
- Recommends removal of unsatisfactory teachers following established procedures.
- Supervises daily use of school facilities for academic and non-academic purposes.
- Plans and supervises emergency drills and preparedness programs.
- Provides leadership during civil disobedience in accordance with Board policies.
- Manages inventories and security of school property.
- Supervises activities and programs related to the school’s curriculum.
- Participates in meetings such as principal’s meetings and negotiations.
- Collaborates with college and university officials on teacher training and preparation.
- Handles official correspondence and news releases for the school.
- Engages with community groups to foster understanding and support for school objectives and programs.
- Serves on committees and attends required meetings as directed by the superintendent.
- Delegates authority responsibly in the principal’s absence.
- Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
- Follows safety practices and complies with district rules, regulations, and policies.
- Implements the District Strategic Plan at the building level.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
- Occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Occasionally stoop, bend, and reach.
- Work indoors and outdoors year-round.
