Job summary

Montgomery College is seeking a Full-time Behavioral Health faculty member to begin January 2027. The role includes classroom, lab, and clinical instruction across diverse delivery modes (face-to-face, online, hybrid, blended) at multiple campuses.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree in a related field, have teaching experience in asynchronous/blended formats, and demonstrate commitment to inclusive education and professional development.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Behavioral Health, Community Health or similar field.
• Minimum of one year of experience in an academic environment.
• Experience teaching asynchronous and/or Blended classes using Blackboard, Zoom or similar Learning Management System.
• Demonstrated proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
• Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction using a variety of teaching methods.
• Commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices and support of a diverse student population.
• Experience integrating technology into course delivery including use of a Learning Management System.
• Collaborative work with colleagues.
• Eligible to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of courses within the Behavioral Health program.
• Teach 30 semester hours per academic year; summer classes possible.
• Participate in program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment and evaluation.
• Provide support to the program and coordinator as needed.
• Serve on departmental, campus, and/or college committees; hold office hours; advise students; participate in course and program assessment; pursue professional development.

Montgomery College is seeking an outstanding Full-time BehavioralHealth faculty member to fill a position beginning January 2027. Weare seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.

The successful candidate will appreciate teaching in a multi-cultural environment and will welcome the opportunity to work with students with diverse learning abilities. Faculty dutiesinclude classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction, assessment,curriculum development, advising, professional inquiry, committeework, and utilizing instructional technology.

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, online, hybrid, and/or blended formats during days,evenings, and weekends. Montgomery College has multiple campuses,and faculty may be assigned to teach in-person at any of thesecampuses and teach online.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Teach a variety of courses within the Behavioral Health program.
• Teach 30 semester hours per academic year. Opportunities may exist to teach summer classes.
• Participate in discipline-related activities such as program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment and evaluation.
• Provide support to the program and coordinator as needed.
• Faculty members are expected to serve on departmental, campus, and/or college committees, hold office hours, advise students, participate in course and program assessment, and maintain an active personal program of professional development and continuous learning.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Behavioral Health, Community Health or similar field
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in an academic environment.
• Experience teaching asynchronous and/or Blended classes using Blackboard, Zoom or similar Learning Management System.
• Demonstrated proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
• Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction using a variety of teaching methods.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices and support of a diverse student population.
• Experience integrating technology into course delivery including use of a Learning Management System.
• Demonstrated effective collaboration with colleagues.
• Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching a variety of college level Behavioral Health courses at the college level
• Certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor
• Certified Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) nonviolent crisis intervention instructor
• Experience with academic program advising
• Experience supporting students through extracurricular activities or community outreach.
• Evidence of commitment to professional development and scholarly activities.
• Experience supporting students to overcome barriers to academic success.

Hiring Range: $64,510 - $98,220

As a condition of employment, the following are required at thetime of hire:

• Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).
• Participation in a retirement plan (Pension or Optional Retirement Plan, depending on the position). If you are already retired from the Maryland State Retirement System, you may not enroll in a Maryland State Retirement System plan at Montgomery College and may have earnings restrictions, per state law.
