Lone Star College-Tomball is seeking an Instructional Designer II to manage the full scope of learning and development activities for web-based and instructor-led training. You will collaborate with clients and SMEs to design curricula, develop plans, and evaluate outcomes.

The role leads instructional design projects, advises on technologies, and supports LSC-Online learners, with a focus on Life Long Learning online instructors community. Salary range is $58,625–$67,419 annually.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, or Organizational Development
  • At least 4 years of experience implementing the ADDIE model of instructional design
  • At least 4 years of experience in Design coursework with labs and ILT in industry

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops highly complex course curricula and related content and materials
  • Oversees development of curricula or programs by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in support of an assigned functional area, consulting often with SMEs
  • Conducts complex needs assessments and provides ongoing analysis of learning programs across a broad spectrum of positions
  • Develops and conducts individual and group training workshops; utilizes eLearning tools to develop web-based training
  • Evaluates training programs or curricula for effectiveness and desired outcomes
  • May serve as primary LSC-Online representative/point-of-contact for LSC-Academy for Life Long Learning online instructors community
  • Consults with leaders of major constituency groups within the organization to assess learning needs
  • Develops strategic plans for development of training curricula, professional development and technical programs
  • Responsible for leadership of a variety of learning/instructional design projects
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Instructional Designer II is responsible for a full range oflearning and development activities for web-based andinstructor-led training and learning programs. Conducts needsassessments, designs and develops curriculums/instructional plans,evaluates training programs for effectiveness, and providesconsultation for a broad array of learning and development issues.Advises on appropriate instructional technologies, includinge-learning/web-based formats. Leads teams that include clients andsubject matter experts to complete instructional designprojects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Designs and develops highly complex course curricula andrelated content and materials
  2. Oversees development of curricula or programs by Subject MatterExperts (SMEs) in support of an assigned functional area,consulting often with SME's
  3. Conducts complex needs assessments and provides on-goinganalysis of learning programs across a broad spectrum ofpositions
  4. Develops and conducts individual and group training workshops.Utilizes eLearning tools to develop web-based training. May adviseonline faculty on appropriate instructional technologies, includingonline learning/web-based formats
  5. Evaluates training programs or curricula for effectiveness anddesired outcomes. Utilizes feedback to initiate changes,refinements and improvements
  6. May serve as primary LSC-Online representative/point-of-contactfor LSC-Academy for Life Long Learning online instructors communityproviding online, phone, email, and desk-side support.Troubleshoots and resolves Tier I and II level technicalissues
  7. Consults with leaders of major constituency groups within theorganization to assess, trend, and analyze learning needs ofemployees across the region based on current and future strategicplans
  8. Develops strategic plans for development of training curricula,professional development and technical programs
  9. Responsible for leadership of a variety oflearning/instructional design projects
  10. Responsible for other reasonable related duties asassigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Extensive knowledge of ADDIE course design
  • Broad knowledge of adult learning principles, practices andprocedures

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably todo the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; ordriving an automobile. No special physical demands are required toperform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS
  • Equipment used includes,PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other generaloffice equipment
  • Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out thefunctions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimalexposure to safety hazards; Some local travel within the LSCservice is required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience, or anequivalent combination of education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Curriculum Development, InstructionalDesign, or Organizational Development

Salary

Hiring salary range is $58,625 - $67,419

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all postedfull-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fallin that range is determined by your related experience andeducation.
