The Opportunity

The Instructional Designer II plays a key role in teaching andlearning for the ERAU Worldwide Campus and the Academic Innovationteam. The Academic Innovation team is made up of diverse skill setsand individuals, including a Software Developer, UX ResearchAnalysts, eLearning Support Specialists, InstructionalTechnologists, Instructional Designers, Instructional Consultants,Media Producers, and Digital Media Specialists. Those positions work collaboratively to apply their expertise onthe creation and implementation of innovative solutions and on theidentification of tools and technologies that address bigchallenges in education. The Instructional Designer II seeks toconstantly innovate through continued evaluation of existingsolutions and by staying informed about industry trends.

Key job functions include:
  • Works with the Senior Director, the respective Director ofInstructional Design and Development, the Senior InstructionalDesigner, and the college representatives to establish coursedevelopment standards and policies and communicates those withother team members and faculty.
  • Works with the Senior Director, the respective Director, theSenior Instructional Designer, and the college representatives toestablish quality review standards/metrics and coordinates qualityassurance reviews of multiple courses and other instructionalmaterials.
  • If/when applicable, mentors Instructional Designers I in thedevelopment of job-related knowledge and skills, includingassisting the Senior Instructional Designer in traininginitiatives.
In addition to the job position functions listed above, the Instructional Designer II:
  • Collaborates with remote faculty to prepare high-quality onlinecourses for academic and non-credit delivery.
  • Edits and organizes electronic information to createhigh-quality, adult learning-oriented online course content.
  • Coordinates the production and/or acquisition of instructionalmaterials, including video, graphics, animations, and interactivemedia elements.
  • In collaboration with faculty, produces instructional materialswithin the university’s Learning Management System (Canvas).
  • Conducts quality assurance reviews of courses and otherinstructional materials.
  • Implements established ERAU course development standards andpolicies and communicates those with other team members andfaculty.
  • Works equally well in a team-based and individual context, asrequired by specific work demands.
  • Monitors and communicates textbook issues affecting coursedevelopment and implementation.
  • Facilitates course approval process with academic departmentchairs upon completion of course development.
  • Coordinates course review cycles and facilitates courseredevelopments and updates.
  • Coordinates project tasks and timeline to ensure timelyexecution of course production projects.
  • If/when needed, engage with internal peers in the collaborativedesign and development of online courses and relatedprojects.
  • Encouraged (but not required) to engage in research projectswith the goal of attending relevant conferences and training aswell as performing presentations.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this role is up to $ 54,760 . The final offer will be based on the candidate’s skills,qualifications, and experience, as well as applicable stateregulations, internal equity, and business needs, and may falloutside of the stated range.
