Job Description

The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) seeks a dynamic, student-centered, and forward-thinking Assistant Dean of Students to provide visionary leadership.

The Assistant Dean of Students serves as a senior leader within the Division of Student Affairs Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for shaping the strategic vision for the student experience at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. As one of the architects of the co-curricular student experience, this position develops and advances a comprehensive vision that fosters student engagement, connection, belonging, leadership development, and well-being across the institution.

Working collaboratively with divisional and university leadership, the Assistant Dean designs an integrated student experience that intentionally connects programs, services, traditions, and opportunities beyond the classroom. This role assesses emerging student needs, identifies opportunities for innovation, and develops strategies that enhance student success, retention, and campus culture.

The Assistant Dean provides executive leadership and strategic oversight for key student engagement departments, including Student Engagement & Student Union and Fitness & Wellness, ensuring that programs and services align with the Division's mission, strategic priorities, and institutional goals. Through strong partnerships across Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Athletics, Campus Safety, Housing & Residence Life, and other campus stakeholders, the Assistant Dean creates a seamless and student-centered experience that supports holistic student development.

As a member of the Division of Student Affairs Executive Leadership Team, the Assistant Dean contributes to divisional strategy, organizational planning, assessment, budget development, and policy formation. The position champions a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and student-centered decision-making while mentoring staff and developing future leaders within the division.

In addition to strategic leadership responsibilities, the Assistant Dean supports the University's student care, conduct, and crisis response framework by serving as a case manager, student conduct hearing officer, and member of the department's rotating on-call team, providing 24/7 leadership during assigned coverage periods to respond to urgent student welfare concerns, behavioral incidents, and campus emergencies. Through these responsibilities, the Assistant Dean helps ensure a coordinated, compassionate, and timely institutional response to students in need.
