Job summary

Northwest Nazarene University is seeking an Instructional Designer to partner with faculty in designing, developing, and delivering engaging online and hybrid courses. You will implement best practices in course design, pedagogy, and instructional technology to enhance student learning experiences.

The role collaborates with academic leadership to create accessible, inclusive materials and to advance universal design principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, educational technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional design or curriculum development.
• Proficiency using learning management systems (Canvas/Blackboard/Moodle).
• Experience designing accessible and inclusive instructional materials.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of instructional design models such as ADDIE or backward design.
• The University requires Christians and alignment with NNU mission.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with faculty to design and develop online and hybrid courses aligned with best practices.
• Creates and maintains processes and procedures related to online course development.
• Guides curriculum development, assessment strategies, and course organization.
• Develops and delivers training sessions and workshops on instructional design and tech integration.
• Creates engaging multimedia content for instructional materials.
• Evaluates instructional technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
• Supports faculty in integrating Canvas and other digital tools into courses.
• Conducts ongoing assessments of course effectiveness and improvements.
• Promotes accessibility standards and universal design in all materials.
• Serves as a resource on trends in instructional design and education tech.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
