Job summary

Arizona State University seeks a collaborative Instructional Designer to join its expanding Instructional Innovation Team. The role focuses on improving course design, teaching, and student success across online, hybrid, and on-campus modalities, with emphasis on research-based instructional design practices and accessibility.

The position will work with faculty and campus partners to develop and redesign courses, create effective learning materials, and support faculty on innovative education

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Experience in higher education and course redesign is preferred.
• Familiarity with backward design, UDL, and Quality Matters is desirable.
• Experience using data to inform design decisions (training provided if needed).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty to redesign courses using established instructional design best practices.
• Consult with faculty to identify instructional needs and translate expertise into learning experiences.
• Support design of learning materials, assessments, and activities aligned with course goals.
• Apply course design principles to support student success across modalities (online, hybrid, on-campus).
• Assist with course builds, revisions, and troubleshooting in Canvas.
• Evaluate and recommend instructional technologies based on goals, accessibility, and sustainability.
• Manage instructional design projects and coordinate timelines with colleagues.
