Job summary

Northwest Nazarene University is seeking an Instructional Designer for the Teaching & Learning Center. The role supports faculty in designing, developing, and delivering engaging, accessible instructional materials using best practices in pedagogy and technology.

The position emphasizes collaboration with faculty and leadership to enhance student learning, implement universal design, and deliver training on instructional design tools and strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, educational technology, or related field; or a non-related bachelor’s with a professional certificate in instructional design.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional design or curriculum development.
• Proficiency with learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle).
• Experience designing accessible and inclusive instructional materials.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with faculty to design and develop online and hybrid courses.
• Creates and maintains processes for online course development.
• Guides curriculum development, assessment strategies, and course organization.
• Delivers training sessions and workshops on instructional design and technology.
• Creates engaging multimedia content for instructional materials.
• Evaluates and recommends instructional technologies for teaching and learning.
• Supports faculty in using Canvas and other digital tools.
• Conducts ongoing assessments of course effectiveness and suggests improvements.
• Promotes accessibility standards and universal design principles.
