Summary

The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training solutions that support ACS programs and advance patient care.

Location / Hybrid

Chicago office – 3 days per week in office and 2 days remote.

Salary Range

$73,700 – $80,000 (commensurate with experience).

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute instructional design projects, including needs assessments, design documents, storyboards, and scripts.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, internal teams, and external partners to develop learner‑centered content for live, hybrid, and web‑based courses.
  • Build, test, and maintain courses in ACS’s Learning Management System, ensuring quality and accessibility.
  • Manage project timelines, track communication, and deliver high‑quality training solutions on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate stakeholder meetings and support the execution of training initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Foster continuous improvement by standardizing design processes, measuring training effectiveness, and exploring innovative learning technologies.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (required).
  • Master’s degree or advanced training in Instructional Design (required).
  • At least 2 years of instructional design experience, including full‑cycle learning solution development.
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts (medical SME experience preferred).
  • Proficiency with major authoring tools (Storyline, Rise) and LMS platforms.
  • Strong multimedia development skills: graphics, audio, video, and interactivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply adult learning principles and deliver measurable training outcomes.
Required Skills
  • Adult learning theory and instructional design principles.
  • Clear translation of complex SME content into structured learning materials.
  • Project management: organization, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Proficiency with LMS platforms and common authoring tools.
  • Excellent technical writing, content editing, and basic video/audio editing.
  • Commitment to quality, usability, and accessibility standards.
Preferred Skills
  • Scenario‑based or simulation‑focused learning experience.
  • Analysis of learner data to inform course improvements.
  • Basic graphic design or multimedia skills.
  • Familiarity with evaluation models (Kirkpatrick, Moore, etc.).
  • Healthcare education experience.
