Job summary

El Dorado County Office of Education is seeking an Instructional Assistant for the Special Services Program for 2026-2027 in El Dorado County. This part-time position supports instruction for students with disabilities under the teacher's direction and assists in supervising classroom and related activities.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent), 2 years of college (48 units) or AA degree, and successful testing.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Successful interaction with children in a classroom or other structured setting.
  • Education: High school diploma or the equivalent, and two years of college (48 units), or A.A. degree (or higher), or pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction.
  • All applicants are required to pass testing in order to be placed on an eligibility list

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the classroom teacher, assist in supervising classroom, playground, and community activities of students with disabilities.
  • Present instructional material under the teacher’s direction to individual students or small groups.
  • Relieve teacher of routine clerical duties.

Salary: Pay Range $20.55 - $ 25.46 Per Hour

Add'l Salary Info: EDCOE pays $600/month toward medical (prorated for less than full time); no cost dental, life insurance, EAP, long term disability; vision $4.87/month; CalPERS retirement.

Length of Work Year: 5 days per week, 10 months per year, hours may vary

Employment Type: Part Time

Purpose Statement: Under the direction of the classroom teacher, assist in supervising classroom, playground, and community activities of students with disabilities and Juvenile Hall students; present instructional material under the teacher’s direction to individual students or small groups; relieve teacher of routine clerical duties.
