La Habra City School District seeks a dedicated instructional assistant to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a teacher and principal. You will provide direct instructional and non-professional assistance and contribute to intensified learning experiences in specialized programs.
Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of relevant experience; additional qualifications include ESSA-compliant criteria and possibly college coursework.
Under direction of a classroom teacher or program director, and the supervision of a school principal, provide instructional and non-professional support for students with disabilities. Provide intensified learning experiences in specialized programs and perform related work as required.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCEAny combination equivalent to: Graduation from secondary school or equivalent GED and one (1) year experience working with elementary school-age children in an organized educational, health, childcare, or other structured setting. Experience with children requiring a specialized learning environment is desirable.Incumbents must meet requirements specified under Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Special Qualifications include:- Completed at least two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education OR- Met (pass) a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing,and mathematics(Please review the job description for more information)
EXAMINATION PROCEDURESThis is a promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test or performance test and a structured oral interview.To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each section of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each test part. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months.
