Job summary

Fruitport Community Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant for MOCI classrooms at the High School location to support students with disabilities and assist with daily living and mobility needs.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with an Associates degree or WorkKeys assessment preferred, and prior experience with children with disabilities. The position is full-time, Monday–Friday, in Fruitport, Michigan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates Degree or completion of the WorkKeys Assessment required.
• Experience with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with daily living skills, including eating, personal hygiene, toileting, communication, mobility, and healthcare needs.
• Ability to lift and/or support with the physical transfer of students.
• Carry out instructional plans of the teacher with individual children or small groups.
• Supervise students getting on and off the bus, in hallways, on community outings, and in activities in and outside of the school building.
• Assist with data collection or documentation.
• Carry out plans developed by the teacher, occupational therapist, speech-language pathologist or other professionals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or special education supervisor.
• Knowledge of and ability to implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
