Job summary

FRUITPORT COMMUNITY SCHOOLS is seeking an Instructional Assistant, LRE, to support students with disabilities in an environment focused on least restrictive education.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living skills, supporting instructional plans, supervising students on bus and in hallways, and helping with materials and record-keeping. Monday–Friday, time TBD. Prior experience with disabilities is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associates Degree or WorkKeys completion preferred.
• Experience with children with disabilities encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with daily living skills such as eating, personal hygiene, toileting, communication and mobility.
• Assist in transferring students and supporting physical needs as required.
• Carry out teacher instructional plans for individuals or small groups.
• Supervise students during bus loading, hallways, community outings, and specials.
• Assist with record keeping and material preparation for lessons.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher.
• Apply Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports as directed.

POSITION: Instructional Assistant, LRE

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates Degree or successful completion of the workkeys.
• Experience with children with disabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist students with daily living skills, including but not limited to: eating, personal hygiene, toileting, communication, mobility.
• Ability to lift and/or support with the physical transfer of students.
• Carry out instructional plans of the teacher with individual children or small groups.
• Supervise children getting on and off the bus, in hallways, on community outings, and in special activities in and outside of the school building.
• Assist teacher with record keeping responsibilities.
• Assist teacher with preparation of materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher.
• Knowledge of and ability to implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
