Job summary

Fruitport Community Schools in Michigan is seeking an Instructional Assistant for the MICI Classroom at Shettler Elementary. This position entails supporting students with daily living and educational activities under the Special Education department.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with an Associates Degree or WorkKeys completion preferred. Prior experience with children with disabilities is expected. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 33.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with daily living skills, including eating, personal hygiene, toileting, communication, mobility, and other healthcare needs.
• Ability to lift and/or assist with the physical transfer of students.
• Carry out instructional plans of the teacher with individual children or small groups.
• Supervise students getting on/off the bus, in hallways, on community outings, and in activities inside/outside the school building.
• Assist with data collection or documentation as needed.
• Implement plans developed by teachers and related professionals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or special education supervisor.
• Knowledge of and ability to implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist students with daily living skills, including but not limited to: eating, personal hygiene, toileting, communication, mobility, and any other healthcare needs.
