Job summary

Fruitport Community Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant MICI Classroom at Shettler Elementary. This position supports students with disabilities and assists with daily living skills under the guidance of licensed staff.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, an Associates degree or WorkKeys completion, and a passion for inclusive education. Workweek is Monday–Friday, about 33.5 hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree or successful completion of the WorkKeys assessment.
• Experience with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with daily living skills, including eating, personal hygiene, toileting, communication, mobility, and other healthcare needs.
• Ability to lift and/or assist with physical transfer of students.
• Carry out instructional plans of the teacher with individual children or small groups.
• Supervise students getting on/off the bus, in hallways, on community outings, and during activities in/out of the school building.
• Assist with data collection or documentation as needed.
• Carry out plans developed by the teacher, occupational therapist, speech-language pathologist or other professionals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or special education supervisor.
• Knowledge of and ability to implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
