Job summary

Fruitport Community Schools in Michigan is seeking an Elementary Math and Reading Interventionist for Beach Elementary School. This role focuses on targeted interventions for students at risk in reading and math, aligned to standards.

The successful candidate will collaborate with classroom teachers, coordinate with special education, and manage intervention schedules while maintaining records. Michigan elementary certificate preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides interventions for general education and special education students at risk of academic underperformance.
• Delivers research-based interventions in reading or math.
• Communicates with parents and classroom teachers about services and progress.
• Develops schedules that fit intervention opportunities with minimal impact on core instruction.
• Coordinates with the special education teacher to tailor interventions.
• Provides pre-referral interventions for not yet eligible students.
• Maintains records of intervention services as described.
• Supports principal and Title I staff in coordinating parent-involvement activities.
• Ensures alignment with 31a supplemental program dollars.

NOTICE OF INTENT TO EMPLOY

LOCATION: Beach Elementary School

POSITION: Elementary Math and Reading Interventionist

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A valid Michigan teaching certificate for elementary education is preferred.
• Ability to coordinate and work effectively with classroom teachers.
• Experience in providing strategic interventions to students aligned to standards for performance at each grade level.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides interventions for general education and special education students who are identified at risk of academic failure in reading or mathematics.
• Provides research-based interventions in reading or math either pull-out or within the classroom.
• Communicates and coordinates with parents and classroom teachers regarding students’ services and progress.
• Develops daily/weekly schedules that accommodate intervention opportunities with identified students that minimize impact on their classroom core instruction.
• Coordinates with special education teacher to tailor interventions given student eligibility and intervention needs
• Coordinates with special education teacher to provide pre-referral interventions for not yet eligible students
• Knowledge of Section 504 and special education preferred
• Meets at least monthly with the special education teacher to review data and coordinate services
• Keeps record of intervention services as described above.
• Responsible for biweekly or semi-annual certification of duties/time as prescribed by business office.
• Assists the principal and/or Title I staff in coordinating parent-involvement activities.
• Must understand that this position exists so long as adequate 31a supplemental program dollars are available.

TERMS:

Average hours per week will generally fall between 8:25 – 3:45 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Hours may vary to provide after school support for students (example: 10:00 – 5:0)

Hourly pay rate is approx. $30 - $35 per hour single-subscriber insurance via EDUstaff

Candidate will be hired through EduStaff.
